Nizoral contains Ketoconozale which is a anti-fungal. Many times dandruff and itchy patches can be due to fungal infections.
Most older technology dandruff shampoos use tar oils to weight and keep down dandruff and moisten the scalp. Newer ones use zinc or salicylic acids to slow skin cell development. Nizoral may show some benefit over time.
