We would go in the canopy and cook, don't take much to keep warm, but we always got headaches from the propane heating/cooking, carbon monoxide I suspect. Always slept in the cab, wake up in the night, let the truck run, minus 30, no problems, always warm.

Whenever we've slept in the back under the truck canopy we've just closed the windows, relied on thermarests, warm sleeping bags, long johns and a toque. No heater at all.
