I like .410s. My two are a CZ/Huglu Bobwhite, twin triggers and straight grip stock and a beautiful Winchester .42 built in '58 with a Simons rib and nice wood.
I've taken a limit of wild pheasants opening day in South Dakota a dozen years ago with the CZ. A great pointing dog, broadside shots only with the pheasant's head and ring visible at 20 yards or so led to no missed/wounded birds. After opening day I went back to the 16 ga SxS as going away birds with the .410 are not a good plan. The .410 goes ruffed grouse hunting with the dog on occasion as well.
I like to shoot skeet and some sporting targets with the .410 as well. But they aren't a good beginner's gun!
