The larger common carp has not crashed game fish numbers in southern BC or Ontario where they are common in a lot of lakes and sloughs
I don’t know how Persian carp will compare to the impact common carp have but if it’s similar the impact on eggs should not have much effect on game fish populations. It seems in most cases when invasive fish end up in systems the predictions are that the native game fish are going to be eradicated but rarely that is the case
Unfortunately Alberta is not going to be able to turn back time or eradicate these carp. Really all that can be done is study there impact and see what adjustments are needed to manage Alberta’s fisheries
Carp should have never ended up in Alberta waters but they are here to stay now
