the 760/7600s are extremely cold on the hands when stalking. My hand seemed to be always on bare metal and I hate still hunting with gloves on unless absolutely necessary. Harvested some nice deer with those rifles but they were eventually moved along.
Recently picked up a used X-Bolt Stainless/Walnut Hunter in 308. It is nearly as light as my Finnlight and handles very nicely. I refinished the stock, added a light weight nylon sling and new hardware, put a Leupold 1-4 x 20 on top of Talley light weights and ended up with a very nice little rifle. All in just slightly over your budget.
