I wasn't aware of this---maybe the authorities are concerned about getting repairs or alterations done while in the US.
Most of my rifles are re-barrelled and/or restocked so guess I better take pics before I leave. Pics would also confirm the scopes on the rifles.

Yes the ATF 6N1A is the form I used. Also if you are taking custom rifles down they require two photos of each gun. One full length and a close up of the action showing the serial number. You can call the ATF if you need help or have questions about the form. I did a couple times and they were very nice and helpful.
