English people will often refer to ZERO as Naught or Nought which is sometimes shortened to Aught or Ought. And thus the 30-"Aught" six was named.

Well to my ear its been odd and nobody ever corrected me but the whole thing is wrong because aught is the right word for zero or nothing and americans use ought which is a different word entirely go figure plus its an american cartridge
