I bought an old hunting trailer that has a 2 way regulator. I fill up the good bottle and attach to the trailer regulator. Open both bottles and the propane flows from one bottle to the other. I think they equalize so I get the old bottle half full

Just for curiosity next time you fill one leave the empty on the ground and see if it fills fully or at least much more. Same principal works on the one pounders I fill with an adapter. Some local farmers fill their smaller bottles out of their large tanks.
