I had a chance to handle one an Wholesale in Calgary last week and I'd have to agree. I also thought the forend was incredibly flimsy and would twist with very little hand pressure applied.

I say this as somebody who owns and really likes other Savage rifles, I don't know what they were thinking on this one.
