can fly fish for goldeye in NSR. Best fly fishing is stocked lakes near edmonton. Usually they are west of the city~1hr. I hope you like rainbows. Chikakoo's got brook trout as well though. Muir I'd also recommend. You'll need a tube to access these two.
water boatmen, leaches, pheasant tails, hairs ears. That's what I'd use. Dry fly fishing is not as much. Chironomids are supposed to be good too. if you're north, try hermitage and if south try beaumont for small pond fishing.
