Good diagnosis- Shooting a moving target with a shotgun, while the lower half of your body is anchored to the ground is indeed tricky.
The advantage you do have with a layout style of blind, though, is that your profile can be hidden from the birds and your hide is easily camo'ed into the field- hopefully, this will trick the birds into presenting easy, close, shots in your kill hole.
