I prefer to fish from a kayak than a boat. It offers more stealth and maneuverability, and it's less expensive and easy to transport. Once you get the hang of it it's quite easy to fly cast from a kayak and I've had trout take a dry fly 3 feet away from me. Fish treat it like it isn't even there.
