#1000 S.-Elite BAD's

I received a report that some wolf trappers are using the #1000 S.-Elite and the odd one has broken....

Thus a suggestion from the manufacturer:

In regards to the #750 and #1000 Breakaway Devices, we have many many satisfied customers from all over the continent. However, trapper beware!!! Heavier gauge wire breakaways must not be significantly overcrimped like the lighter breakaways can.

If the heavier wire is over-stressed by over crimping/bending/flattening of the wire, the material will sustain micro-fractures in the process which will lead to a significantly weakened material and be prone to breakage.

Breakaways are best installed with a bench swager, versus a hand tool as the user has excellent control with such a tool. Close the s-hook down, and perhaps a smidge of extra pressure and call it good. Do not overly distort/flatten out the s-hook to ensure the material does not begin to crystalize/fracture which in turn could lead to loss of a target animal on occasion.

We havent detected any problems in our breakaway devices, and suspect the odd loss coming as a result of over-stress of the material during installation.

Please do let us know if and when you experience problems with our products.
