Gophers vs song birds

Just wondering if there are any studies or information on how predatory, harmful gophers are on the song bird population ?? Just curious, as I watch the black birds, grackles, meadow lark and other species of birds chase and defend their nests against the resident gophers.

Now I come to think of it, there never are a lot of birds where the gopher populations are high.

Pretty much sums up his entire thought process.

Having hunted fields where there is not one stick of grass left, also debunks his theory that they don't compete directly with cattle.

But I am just an old rancher what would I know.

The fact that the birds are driving off the gophers still makes me wonder
