Anyone know these tracks?

These tracks were huge and saw them 3 hours into the bush, would these be cougar tracks?

without a bunch of first hand experience with firearms you are more likely to shoot yourself or a buddy in a charge situation.....if you are lucky you will just miss :sHa_sarcasticlol:

there is a reason even seasoned shooters carry spray.

Yea probably right, are you aloud to shoot a firearm in the air well fishing the back country, every 20 minutes let a shot go off in the air?

Likely best just to sing a song out loud and carry pepper spray.

Redneck Renagade 07-03-2012 12:06 PM

Wolf for sure.

BGSH 07-03-2012 12:07 PM

It is probably better for everyone in the woods, if you don't get a firearm.:)

You would be allowed to carry a shotgun and, IMO, should. There's no sense in firing shots at nothing, though. Keep aware of your surroundings, don't try to walk quiet. If the other noises don't keep a bear at bay, the buckshot/slug will change his mind.:)

lawrence23cardinal 07-03-2012 12:27 PM

the last picture is a bear not sure if its black or grizzly but the others are for sure wolf. you can buy bear bangers too or pepper spray works great too. or if you have your firearms licence you could get 12 gauge bear Bangers and if they fail to scare off you can have a couple slugs ready to defend yourself:fighting0030:

Not that one shot a week will keep the animals away, but it will be much safer, and much less annoying for everyone else trying to enjoy the woods.:)

I wasn't trying to run you down man, but TJ had probably the best answer of the bunch, all you have to do is make some noise going in, and the animals will go away. There are exceptions, but the stories of when they happen are way over hyped by the media causing people to over react. Its good to take precautions, and by all means carry a gun for your safety, but don't go out there shooting it off just cause, your just wasting ammo at that point...:)

Wolf and bear tracks. It is good idea to include something for size reference.

If you go to the woods for quiet. I'm not sure you singing Justin Beiber will work too well. If I were you I wouldn't worry too much about bears, but I would really recommend you check this out.

Yes to a gun if you have your pal..i do in some spots if you run into a Male Black Bear you may want one,,, i also have bear spray on belt but loaded 30-30 on back .. they(male) have killed in 92%(humans 69) of Black Bear attacks.. thats not including maulings.. we just had one out here (Brule ) shot charged 3 diff people last one was CO's.. be careful at Lovett Lake 4 Grizz on loose and charging.. must be the 4 i saw last fall picking Huckleberrys close to there,,, a mom and 3 two yr olds ..this will be the last year for her and them..

Don,t let the jabs stop you .. one gun saved a outhouse guy this spring his buddy shot the Black as it was predatating his buddy..

Tracks are wolf.

Food fro Thought

MMM yesss, Bears!

Bought a new Wincester for this years back packing fishing trips, after last years fishing adventure. Spotted a sow and couple cubs at 7am on one end of a lake while out in a canoe. After 11 hours of fishing later I was starved, and come to find out so was the bear. She had stayed at the lake all day watching, and waited until we were leaving, literally laying in the path back to the truck (waiting for us I guess). 9' st.croix rod and a boat oar..... not much protection.

After a few grunt, false charges and a pile of snot, and maybe some brown stuff in my pants, we were on our way home.:scared0018:

Now well equipped for the future ( hopping that it never happens again). Funny how in bear season when they are looking up the business end of my 30-30 i don't have the same feeling.
