Kananaskis River

I will be heading to K-Country at the end of the month.

Just wondering what fishing is like in the Kananaskis River in the area of the Eau Claire campground, and whether it is worth buying a licence.

The Kananaskis River isn't usually considered that good of a fishery because of the water fluctuations caused by the dam. It's pretty country though, and there are fish, but I wouldn't expect any spectacular fishing though. There are a few nice pools near the Opal day use area on the river. Unfortunately the river looks better for fishing than it actually produces.

Is there anywhere worth fishing near Sundance Lodges? It's right off of the Kananaskis Trail near the Nakiska Ski area. Going there next week with my wife and daughter and was wondering if I should pack some rods.

Mount Lorrette ponds is near, it's more of a kiddie type of lake for newbies and it tends to get fished out right away after getting stocked. Might be a good way to spend an hour or two with your family if you're bored.
