The video was good on the variety during your day out. You seemed a little restless. When you mention the morning deer hunt being over at 10 am you may be missing a few daytime opportunities. Deer do move around during the day in the bush. Not randomly so much but traveling for a drink or going to a day bed or early afternoon staging area. Hope you fill your tag.
Tip: let the top of your ears out from under your cap. You will pick up sounds better. |
Thanks for the tips red bullets! The toque that I’m wearing is actually quite thin, I don’t find it to be much of a hindrance to my hearing. I do realize also, that deer move around during the day. I generally don’t have a lot of luck with deer moving mid day, in September and October. I do however, often see them roaming more in November. That’s expected considering it’s the rut, but they seem to just move more during the day, once it’s colder, and less daylight hours. I managed to get out on November first for the first day of rifle season. Just posted the video of that day up to YouTube as well!!

My last two deer have been killed between 9:15am and 9:50am. Most days if I can hunt the whole day, I will be out there all day. And if I only hunt the morning, I’ll stay as late as I can. Often not leaving until noon.
