Chinese.....good for something!!

they may be about to srew our wild salmon/steelhead over, but they sure like the fur! good for them!

top lot, black ranch mink goes for 1400.00$

let's hope it continues over to the wild fur!

Excuse me for not knowing, but does wild fur usually get money than farmed fur. I don't know, but I remember the mink pens around Lesser Slave Lake when I was a little kid.

Grey lynx: Yes it does. Wild caught is much more special and the highest quality.

The mink farms have killed the wild mink market IMO. And I also thought that buyers liked the farmed mink becuz of their consistency of fur, length, color and all the things that makes less work for the processor, therefore I thought farmed mink were worth more but maybe not..
GIBB, if you are by, set us cowboys straight....:character0175:

you are correct sourdough d, farm fox/mink are more consistent=more money. thank goodness there's no marten farming eh?

braggadoe 02-19-2012 05:36 PM

how do you figure??

the others are right, buyers prefer consistency for a superior end product. farmed will almost always yield higher profits.
