Ya, Billy's questionnaire/poll thingy he ran at the beginning of all his "consultations". Please note that of the 134,000 no votes, there was one guy that set his computer to vote no about 4000 times a nite on there? And there are a bunch of people, who should know better, who obviously didn't read this article, who are touting other issues of the same article, as an affirmation that we won the poll.

Lots of rhetoric flying around this week. Cdn politicians tweeting their support for a NZ type law to be implemented here, Michelle Rempel released a vid today countering that. Her and Glen Motz and Bob Zimmer are doing town halls in BC again, Duncan and Terrace in April.
Apparently quite a kerfuffle in Australia about an Al Jazeera reporter infiltrating an Australian gun rights group and getting set up for a meeting with that group and the NRA in the US, and using hidden cameras to record all that was said. The reporter learned about NRA response tactics for mass shootings and the like, and put out a big article on it.
The doctors group are having a meeting in a hotel in Montreal in April and the eastern media are publishing a number of editorials supporting a NZ type law.

SECD is up and hearing more presenters on Mon Apr 1st. Be interested to hear Kate McQuarrie. From what I've seen on her posts, she has a head on her shoulders. Some other interesting people in the list as well.

If you can stomach reading it, NZ legislation. Guaranteed the Libs are looking hard at it. I doubt they are crazy enough to try it before the election, but, it will at least be part of their platform. I watched the announcement on it last nite, believe it may now be on You Tube under 1news possibly. It was sad and sickening to watch the attitude of those politicians in answering the questions from the media. Essentially, if it is a centerfire autoloader rifle or pump with a detachable mag, gone. Extended tube mags for shotguns, gone, all mags over 5 rds for centerfire, gone, all detachable mags for .22 over 10 rds, tubular I'm not sure about, gone. And it covers parts of autoloaders, can't just hand in the lower or the receiver and keep the rest.

CCFR released a vid on YT about their calling out the Canadian Doctors for Protection from Guns and how it started;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T41KfeBPrw

32-40win 04-01-2019 11:41 PM

So, TVO put on a program about advocacy, and invited Rod Giltaca of the CCFR to debate on it, then featured the video I just posted about the doctors and a panel of people who specialize in advocacy to debate the methods being used today. They let Rod speak a lot to the purposes of how CCFR does the things they do, and discuss an animal rights vid as well. It has some interesting stuff in it about where they think the boundaries are as to what methods are used

https://www.tvo.org/video/advocacy-a...ACvmgnFsym8x8M

Then tonite they put on the doctor from Toronto that the CCFR has been "picking on". And if you have read some of the things previously posted and saw this lady's testimony at the SECD, you will see what Rod was talking about as soon as she mentions statistics, which she should stay away from, and also the position of the doctors in her organisation and the lines she is taking from the Poly group, and is using to disguise their position.

Yesterday's session of the SECD on C71, Gun Dealer MacAdam is interesting, OFAH, BC reps, Kate McQuarrie from PEI, a coroner, some doctors, some reps from Police Assoc. Bill Blair will be up tomorrow, to give whatever it is that he will talk about to them.

http://senparlvu.parl.gc.ca/XRender/...0Safari/537.36

32-40win 04-03-2019 03:17 AM

Today, apparently will be the last session of testimony for C71. Then it goes to the clause by clause reading and debate on amendments and whatever occurs there will go back to the HOC.

https://sencanada.ca/en/committees/S...d1Q8GpGPc5ipq8

Please note that there are 11 bills the Libs want to push thru the Senate, these are the instructions given to the Senate for deadlines they are supposed to meet on them, C71 is included;

32-40win 04-03-2019 12:23 PM

SECD will begin Clause by Clause review Monday AM. Blair was questioned on many things by the Senators, I kept wondering about many things they did not ask about, but, they did ask some pointed questions that Blair dodged as they were not really part of his mandate so to speak.
There was no mention of the possibility of looking after the 443,000 people that are prohibited from possessing firearms, that are currently not tracked by the gov't the same as licenced owners are. There was also no reference in questions about sentencing and gang related crime as the what the gov't is doing with regard to C75. The data storage issue was addressed by Justice dept rep saying the privacy laws and electronic data storage laws both provincial and federal should be enough for the stores, but nobody asked or said if the gov't would provide the proper info to the stores to help them gain knowledge of how to best meet whatever those laws are. The Justice dept also claimed there was an appeal mechanism for re-classification thru trade tribunals and the courts available to the importers and vendors.
There was no mention of the current dilemma of the Swiss arms owners or vendors, other than compensation for prohibitions are off the board, in a roundabout way. Notifications of prohibited reclassification was mentioned, but only as a guideline, not law.
So, it remains a possibility that the Libs could make a law that will direct the RCMP to reclassify handguns and various types of autoloaders thru c71 before Parliament suspends this year. Blair would not talk about what is going on in caucus.
And Marilou McPhedran brought up the fact that the Libs are out of time to legislate a handgun ban, unless they attach it to C71 somehow.

By the way, I missed the witnesses when I watched it live, Dr Ackerman is well worth watching. He apparently was a previous member on the CFAC. And he was not consulted by the Liberals in the creation of C71. He has quite a bit to say.

Some good news from Blair

The chances of the government introducing and passing new gun legislation at this late stage of the parliamentary process — with only eight weeks left on the calendar before Parliament rises for its summer break — is next to non-existent.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/bil...port-1.5083050

Blair also suggested the Liberals could revisit this issue if the government is re-elected in the fall

Let's hope that doesn't happen

Anybody else notice the StatCan claims of FULLY AUTOMATIC firearms use in Canadian crime stats at the bottom of this CBC article?
Apparently these were facts introduced by Yvan Clermont ,Director at StatsCan at SECD meeting on C-71 held on Feb.18.
Has a full auto firearm been used in Canada to commit a crime that maybe I'm not aware of?

Well, this is a long one, the clause by clause amendments procedure in the SECD for C71. Whether or not these amendments survive the vote in the Senate general vote, or in the HoC, is still in the air. Sen Plett did as promised, he pretty much gutted it, and was quite successful in the votes.
If we are lucky, it'll be a few weeks til the bill goes thru a vote in the Senate, and a bit more before it goes back to Parliament. But, it also paints a picture of what is to come if the Libs get re-elected, or the Cons wind up in a minority, or the Libs get elected again down the road, and that is not pretty.
