Just legitimately won a trip trip!!!
Starting out 2019 with a bang!!!
Over the fall with one of my suppliers had a contest where for every set of tires sold you got entered for a draw for a bunch of different prizes and I just found out I won the grand prize which is a trip for two to the Nascar race in Phoenix this March! It includes flights, hotel, full weekend passes to the race and all. This will be a blast! I am posting this not just to rub in my good fortune, but I am wondering if any of you regular Phoenix goers have any recommendations of other things worth checking out while we are there for 5 days. I have never been and want to take my lady around to do some fun and interesting stuff outside of the race itself... Thanks for any thoughts! Bob |

Congrats tirebob. Good things come to good people. Enjoy the time in the sun.
Got to go to the Daytona 500 in 2000. It was a blast! Enjoy it. BW |
If you're not posting about people giving you gifts of whiskey, you're posting about winning trips to the races.
You must have built up a lot of karma to be cashing in like this. Arizona in March sounds really good on a day like today. |
phoenix nascar race
Drive to Nogales not a bad drive. Do it before Trump puts up the wall!

I believe there may be spring training baseball going on as well.
There is or was also a abandoned aircraft museum near Tuscon. I was there 15 or 20 years ago and they had an SR-71. "Here lies Lester Moore. Four slugs from a 44, no Les no more." |
That's awesome Bob! Enjoy that.
When my son an I were there for some hockey, we did Sedona as suggested. Well worth the trip. One other local thing that we really enjoyed, surprisingly, was the local botanical gardens. Think of it like a desert version of Bouchart Gardens. https://www.dbg.org/ Also, we did a day hike up Piestawa Peak...great view of the entire area, a lot more hiking than it looks from the parking lot! Running shoes will get it done, you don't need hikers. Those are a couple of things we really enjoyed together. https://www.arizona-leisure.com/pies...ak-hiking.html |

Sounds like a hoot, I've never been to Arizona, but there are some good suggestions by others. Let us know how it goes! Nascar would be cool to see.

Congrats, Phx is a great place in March. Cactus League Baseball runs until the end of March. The Cincinanniti Reds and Cleveland Imdians facility is in Goodyear, close to the track. Depending on where you are staying there are several.other teams and ballparks. We go every yeear to golf. One of the best side trips my wife and I have taken is Kartchner Caverns, SE of Tucson. I was skeptical at first,.but was blown away. Its a day trip from Phx, but wherever you go,.roads are good, gas is cheap.
|
If you decide to travel to Tombstone, which is worth it. Venture over to Kartchner caverns...very cool.
Drive the Apache Trail through the Superstition Mountains. Tons to see and do not to mention the drive itself is awesome. Driving up to Sedona is worth the trip as well...stunning. Either there or on your way back it would be a mistake to not stop in Jerome, old mining town set in the hills. |
