Wireless Trail cameras that are not Cell service based?
 

Anyone know of any trail cameras that you can connect to with your phone from your treestand so that your not burning your bait site? I've looked at a couple bluetooth units by browning and moultrie, kodiak went out of business and spypoint wants 900 bucks....looking for other and or all options.

I bought a couple Link Micro from Spypoint. I haven’t put them out in the field yet (so no actual review on how good they are yet), but seem to be what you are looking for, selling for $200 each.

You control the settings via the app on your phone. No cell plan required through telus or Rogers, you can select a Spypoint plan for how many pics you want.

Can you set motion notification on these or is it fixed time uploads only?

I am assuming you cannot live stream these via Bluetooth or wireless?

We have a few Micros out in the field right now. So far they suck! Very poor detection circuit (lots of false pics), and the worst on batteries. Like 7 days on 8-AA batteries bad. And they are currently not compatible with a12v source.

I had high hopes but have been throughly disappointed.

my hunting partner and I bought 3 of these for bear hunting. we also bought some cheap 10 foot wifi antenna cables off of amazon that we used to put the camera antenna on and tie it up in the tree. worked like a charm. the batteries last a lot longer when it isn't hunting for signal. we also set our cameras to transmit less frequently during the day to also save on battery life.

the spypoint antenna cables are like $70... the ones off amazon are $15 if I remember correctly

I bet they would work for any camera using an external WIFI antenna

I have one out up north, so far seems good, no issues with Batteries, what ones are you running? Over a thousand pics and battery still shows 100%. Have it set to send pics 6 times a day.
Get a few false pics, but for most part good.

NOW MY BEEF!!!!!!!!!! The Antenna is the WEAK point. I was getting lots of pics of the animals eyes as they were right up to it. Well one enimal thought it was branch I guess and bit and kept walking.... :angry3: So I called them and told them my feelings on the poor design, they happily said thank you, that will be $19.00 including shipping...:sign0161: Going to build a guard to protect the new antenna.

So after reading the comments I decided to buy one of these cameras. And a huge plus! Cameras went on sale today and free shipping!

I have my cameras set to send photos once a day. At the beginning it was working great, but then it just got worse and worse. Currently the camera is an hour away and a 1 hour hike and it’s batteries (energizer) lasted a weak and now show 0%. No more pics.

As far as I understand the cameras do NOT work on LTE only 3G (they say they are 4g but not LTE), so maybe that is part of the issue.

Either way we have 3 out right now and none of them are working well. I’ve even updated the firmware and spent time with tech support who told me of the known issues. I wish I was having your guys luck with them.

The mystique is gone from hunting.

Here you can see the batteries lasted a week. Not a single animal picture was sent, and it had very good signal strength.

Says your SD card is 440% full.... must be some pics there.
Have you gone to the cam to download the card?
When I called them they said they could try sending an update to firmware, BUT, you would have to power off camera to get the firmware to load. maybe a option

If you have existing pics on your card the camera is going to try and send them
I have the solar spypoint cellular ones and they have an internal battery as well
I set them now and they are good til nov

are you running lithiums? mine work great, I get 10-20 pics a day sent first thing in the morning to my phone. battery is still at 100% after being out for 2 months.

make sure you have a brand new sd card in it and set it so it only sends once a day.

Although it lists a lot of pics, when I put it out a couple weeks ago, it was a blank card. Most of those pics are from the previous location and when I had it in the house doing tests.

This tome around, It sent pics of trees for the first few days then nothing.

I really want it to work as good as it did the first couple days after I got it. It’s been downhill since. Im planning to go get it this week, I’ll update after I do.

When it works, it’s worth the money for sure.

Great, I was planning on putting lithium’s in mine. I have had other Spypoint cams and they have lasted incredibly long on lithium batteries so I was hoping these would be no different.

Hoping to put mine out for the first time this week.

I have had mine out for the last 4-5 days.

Set to send on detection.

Signal has fluctuated between 3 and 4 bars (camera has not moved).

It has sent 94 pics and batteries are at 63%

Few false hits so far but the pics are not very clear even set at the best res.

After having my camera for about a month I thought I would give a quick update.

In all for $170 this has been an awesome purchase.

To start out with the camera was junk. Would send pics for one day or two then nothing for a week. Ended up calling Spypoint support and they sent a firmware update. Took a couple camera restarts to make everything update but now that it has the camera is working awesome.

Almost done my free month, so tonight I'll figure out which package I'm going to go with.

I see Cabelas still has these on sale, think I'll be buying another one.

I am just under 2000 pics still at 100% on my micro link. I have it set to send 12 times a day. They advise if your wanting each detection it will suck the life out of the batteries. I am running lithium.

you need to match the input power of the cam to the output of the power supply, if not most likely the majical smoke that all lectronics run on will be released.

I'm not smart, how does this work?

I have a similar model to the spy point, but made by Stealthcam. It's a battery eater as well. Takes great photos though. It has issues with the app though where I was able to get it to work with an iPhone but not a Samsung. Steathcam was quick to respond with emails at first but they now seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. If I hadn't gotten it from the US it would be returned.

Just ordered that antenna cable and hopefully it helps.

I don't have a cellular cam but I find lithium batteries are a must have. Lasts a long time this way.

For those with a cell cam can you watch a live feed?

Even with lithium batteries those minis don't last very long in cold weather. The Ridgtec lookout holds 12 AA's and that's the best I have found for longetivity.
