Broadheads

What’s everyone’s favourite fixed blade broadhead. If you can sell me on mechanical then I’ll try switching but I hate buying o-rings every time and I like to take out every variable that could go wrong such as them not opening, that’s why I stick with fixed blade.

I have been using G5 Strikers and they have been great, spin perfect and fly like darts. Might have something to do with G5 being in the surgical equipment business. I have also used Slick Tricks and they are great as well. If you do go to mechs, Grim Reaper 1 3/8 cut are hard to beat and there is no o-rings.

Rackmastr 06-24-2019 08:37 PM

I shoot 125gr Strikers and have had great luck with them and great flight. I've shot them out to 80 yards and they fly very well.

Favourite is the Tooth of the Arrow 100 grain. Sharp, tough, and accurate. Easy to resharpen if needed

Lefty-Canuck 06-25-2019 09:08 AM

Tooth of the Arrow have worked well for me as a fixed option. Mechanical I would go Grim Reaper Razor Tip original.

Passthru 06-25-2019 12:45 PM

I’ve always used G5 strikers and they work well. I haven’t tried the striker v2 yet but imagine they are very similar. This year I will be trying grim reapers

I had trouble tuning the G5's. I went to Slick Trick Magnums, 100Gn and they flew so much better. I took a Muley Buck and a WT buck last year, and the broad heads performed flawless and both animals expired quickly. They will be my go to broad head until I have an issue.

Toungetech 06-29-2019 01:39 AM

I'm looking at the ironwill Outfitters broadheads.

G5 Strikers

reddeerhunter 06-29-2019 08:29 AM

BH's

VPA 3 blade or2 blade, Alien Archery SV2, Tooth of the arrow. Carbon express F15. Shuttle T. Striker or Montec. Exodus. Tried all, all awesome.

Deer/mules/bears:
Hypodermic 2.3" cut, shapeshifters by innerloc. Or any of the above heads.

Go get em!!!!!!!!!!

Slick tricks

jzz30tt 06-29-2019 11:47 AM

I go down the heavier higher foc arrow path and right now have been using and enjoying cutthroat single bevels.

Bishops look amazing but I haven't a spare child or internal organ to trade for a set of 3.

I still do like slick tricks, tooth of the arrow, grim reapers, nap killzones, and magnus stingers. Solid and iron will are both good too with iron will being substantially more sturdy.

I had a big problem with Strikers spinning and the ferrule is super fragile. Switched to VPA non vented 125 gr 3 blade

Great pic, the non vented penetrates better, and the vented are a bit thicker and tougher. CANNOT go wrong with a VPA. Seriously tough broadhead and easy to find.

Muzzy Trocar was the trick for me last fall I’ve been a muzzy fan a long time. I used to use to MX3 but find the compact Trocars a better choice.

Slick trick magnums and g5 strikers. Both work well for me

They core not cut, as a result penetration is poor. They drain milk jugs fast...but I don’t hunt milk jugs.

I’m trying a heavier higher FOC arrow setup this year for elk. I ordered up a set of Grizzlystik single bevel Alaskan in 200gr. I’m excited for them to show up.

Remi3006 07-03-2019 10:56 PM

I like the the Montec G5’s

mountainman5 07-04-2019 04:12 PM

Blackwidow Innovations px2 is my favourite fixed blade broadhead I shot a bear this spring with them and it was a complete pass through and the bear died within 20 yards. When I found the arrow the broadhead didn’t have any nicks or chips in the blades

6mm rem 07-07-2019 08:32 PM

I’m going to run Tooth of Arrow and Day Six Evo 100s . I ran Slick tricks in the past with good success just looking for something a little more beefy for elk.

Crock44 07-10-2019 10:53 AM

Exodus full blade.

Jspi 07-16-2019 07:48 PM

Broadhead

Ozcuts are a great deal for a very durable head. But cant beat iron wills warranty. Have already had two heads replaced no questions asked. Just don’t loose them... both spin and fly great for me.

YegFishing 07-21-2019 06:45 AM

Call me cheap but I have used Cabela's Coppehead broadheads. I have used them on deer and never had issues. They cut great, break bones and leave a huge wound channel. They break ribs and shoulder blades. The only downside is that they are difficult to sharpen. I have friends who use Montec broadheads and you can sharpen them up on some 2000 stones.

I did buy a pair of broadheads from Europe that I want to try out but I am not sure if it is worth the risk, so I probably will just use them on small game.

raw outdoors 07-21-2019 07:16 AM

Exodus or slick tricks exodus penetrate better the slick trick punch bigger holes. 2 moose 2 elk 2 mule deer can’t argue those results.

There are a lot of good options these days but I have packed out more bull elk killed by a montec than any other broadhead by far. The penetration is excellent. The blood trail can be a bit sparse especially on high hits but that’s common with high hits anyway. They do the job.

I switched from the G5 to the Rage Hypo's. All I can say is Stevie Wonder could follow the blood trail.
Shot critters with the G5, no blood trail or very little blood. With the Hypo's, looks like a scene from I married an axe murderer

So far, no issues with the Hypo's shot an elk 1/4'ing to me at 12' and he expired in 40yrds. Shot another at 30yds and same thing
