Stoked, a project in the making for a decade, I bit the bullet and sent it off to Bob @ Custom Gunworx, couldnt be happier. On budget, fast turn around, excellent pricing and the workmanship was awesome. Started out with Gramps old BSA P-17 and ended up with a beautiful, practical hunting rifle. Jury, 26" barrel w/muzzle brake, in 300 Winchester Magnum, Timney trigger, one piece pic rail, bedded. Stock (MPI) was re-bedded and repaired nicely trued up the action, new follower and spring in the mag box, and topped it off with a "Titanium Cerakote" finish. Can't wait to work up some loads and shoot this baby:sHa_shakeshout:

Thanks all, very pleased, fired two rounds out of it yesterday with some handloads that have worked in the past 2 rifles (laying around) Yikes! toooo hot! A friendly reminder that one rifle can be drastically different from another. Pulled everything I had,dumped the powder, and resized 150 rounds yesterday and tumbled them. Starting from scratch tonight. 200 grain accubonds and Fed 215GM primers ........H1000, RETUMBO, or would love some 8133 to try, gotta find some in Edmonton. Have the first 2 powders on hand though.

Darn, in a much earlier thread discussing Jury barrels, I relayed the experience of a well known F-Class competition shooter I know ... that had purchased two 7mm barrels. The first one he tried shot decent but he could not get the velocity he required before it pressured up too much. The second, he fired the first shot using a known load and seized (and damaged) his bolt. Each was checked by a different gunsmith and in both cases, diagnosed with a tight bore dimension.

Interesting....how could you diagnose a tight bore dimension??

One would have to slug the bore and measure the lead slug .

No concerns here at all, the loads that were shot were not developed in the new rifle. I will be starting from scratch and creating loads for this specific rifle. I even ordered some fresh Gunwerx 300 Win Mag brass for my new rifle. I will putz with the old WW brass lol for now.

Bob built me a F Class barrel a few years ago,,, it shoots awesome, Ha.

Now if I can shoot better than my rifle I'll be style-ing. LOL

DD ... no reason to assume the barrel will not shoot decent (even if the pressure issue is the result of a tight bore). Start low and monitor pressure.

Well did some reloading after work and worked up a book load with 190 Grain Berger VLDs and H1000. All the way up to max, very easy and no pressure signs. Will refine some more on the weekend.

imagine that, a load worked up for a specific gun worked in said gun, and a load worked up for a different gun did not work in a different gun.
it's almost as if each gun in the world is different, even when chambered the same................

Buyers beware. You know you have problems with a barrel maker when they say, they use Krieger bore and groove dimensions and then under closer examination realize they actually errored.

In 7mm, Krieger uses .277/.284 (typical standard). Custom barrel maker was using a .276" reamer......

Quality producers typically stamp bore and groove dimensions on the breech end of the barrel. This would typically be confirmed by the smith prior to machining.....or not...lol.

Fortunately to date, no one has died.

Following the standard safety protocols outlined in reloading manuals is good practice. Knowing the actual numbers is icing on the cake and not all producers are in the icing on the cake category.

Ignoring standard industry protocols particularily when reloading is just a bit wreckless. Accidents happen all the time and are considered part of life.

After a weekend of putzing with fully re-sized brass and the ability to load 3 rounds, walk to the deck with slippers and shoot off a covered bench, early loading has indicated with 3 separate powders, there are no issues at all. loads were at the recommended starting charges and worked up towards max shooting rounds of 3. Rifle seems very happy .5 to one grain below max. Bore looks beautiful and no issues with a tight bore being a factor. Played with RL-26, Retumbo and H1000 with 190- 210 grain bullets, Fed 215GM primers and WW brass. Ordered new Gunwerx brass for this rifle for future loading.
