So anybody have a lead on dies or brass for this caliber?

And does anybody know how to get the recoil spring back in.:confused:

I have one of these old rifles I inherited from my uncle many years ago. Factory ammo is almost impossible to find for the 351. I too would like to know if anyone makes dies for this round. Being a semi auto loader the dies of course need to be good ones.
If anyone has any 351 ammo they would be willing to sell, please pm me.

I have ammo bought at gun shows a while back, it is pricey.
I may have tracked some redding dies down, am working on getting brass, as I am not sure how long the old stuff will stand up, but it has been a hassle, still waiting for grouse river on the dies.
P&d enterprises was no help and some on eBay will not ship to Canada.

Try RustyWood Trading in BC they can bring in weird stuff. I use them allot. Did you YouTube it to see if you can convert brass from another caliber?

I have read numerous reports of making 351 brass out of surplus 223. Never done it myself but if you google it there are a number of articles on it. Dies are available from C4, Buffalo Arms or Redding.

Bertram brass still make brass and Rusty Wood Trading shows it in stock for $254/50, at which price I would be pretty much trying the 223 conversion. Bufflalo Arms also make brass but I don't know anyone in Canada that carries it.

Captech/Jamieson brass is available here for a pretty reasonablep price.

Bullet Barn Carries loaded ammo but are out of stock. They are very good at bringing in orders.

.357 ammo will function in the rifle.The rim is a bit larger than .351 brass,so it will not function through the clip. I think the rim could be turned down and then use 357 dies for reloading,havn't done it but it might work

Been there done this, you still need .351WSL dies

Yes you can bubba .357 brass to work in the .351WSL , the .357 Rim diameter has to be machined down to .407 Also you may have to trim the rim thickness , depending on the rifle and wear and tear , headspace tolerance

If you do not have access to a lathe? A drill press can be utilized but you have to be very careful or you will be wrecking some brass in the process

Company is in Quebec. I have ordered a couple of things from them in the past and it worked out fine, but it was stuff they had in stock. Don't know how it would go if you call them about back ordering. (Did you notice they have Redding Dies in stock for $138.)

Bullet Barn however is excellent to deal with. I have bought lots of stuff from them over many years and they are great on special orders. Wife and husband team that go way out of their way to help out clients.

Well thanks again, I thought P&D would have been good as they got me stuff for an old 303, but they said they had no idea where to get my stuff.

I'd find what you need (online) in the US, then contact Clay@ Prophet River and discuss having him import it for you. Period. Great guy to deal with.

As for the .351~I had a model 1907 I inherited from my grandfather, and picked-up a couple of boxes of ammo over the years to try it...but never did. I also had a 22Win. Auto rifle along with it, equally impossible to find ammo. Rather...not impossible, but you had to have a thick wallet, and be prepared to act fast! I sold these rifles a few years ago, but in both cases...I'm about 99% sure the buyers were more keen on the stockpiles of ammo. :) Anybody looking for .351 stuff would do well to take a peek on the EE over on that other site... :)

Well ordered the dies from X-reload in Quebec, see how quick they are, cant wait to try it, have to still buy a buffer from Numrich as now I know mine is flattened and is not doing any buffering.

You get what you pay for.

I have had that Browning for a long time, has to be over 40 years I think, great little guns and they take down so small.

Found out from the fellows video that my buffer is shot also, so have a new one and a spare coming from Numrich, for a total of 8.00 bucks it will cost around 69.00 bucks to get it here.:sign0176:

Okay, dies should be here on Jan 18th, brass in another week or so, the buffers also should be here within a week, will put the rifle back together, load up some 351 ammo with 180 grain bullets and some IMR4227 and see how she does.
Got the dies and brass from X-reload, so thanks for that tip and am going to order more brass from Bullet barn, along with some powder.

Okay, have dies now and new brass from X-reload, and a new buffer from Numrich, just waiting on some powder, and will start loading up some ammo.

The most recent issue of Handloader magazine features an article on the 351 Winchester and reloading the 1907 rifle. It is an interesting read and might save you some headaches. Good luck, D.H.

I will have to go find the magazine, I got brass from X-reload and also have some coming from Bullet Barn, all WAY cheaper than Rusty Woods price, and the brass is all the same quality too.
So thanks to those that gave me the info to find lower priced components, much appreciate it.

Okay, got my brass and powder from Bullet Barn, turned out my IMR 4227 was to old to use, so ordered new to be on the safe side, so now between x-reload and Bullet barn I have 100 new jamison brass to load up and try work up a load, for the 100 brass total was under 110.00CDN, as opposed to getting 50 for $ 254.00 from Rusty's, sure pays to shop around.
So now just have to find time to load and get up to the range.

So loaded up my first 10, used 17 grains of IMR4227, 180gr bullets, only had CC 450 small rifle mag primers, so will see how that goes, will be loading in steps up till around 20 grains of IMR4227, see how that all goes.

Curious to know if you're rigging up a brass catcher?

Oh yes, saw a leather one the fellow made that does videos on these rifles and other things on logcabinlooms, but I think I am going to try a magnet from work and use it to attach a catcher right to the side, I know on one range the pistol shooters use a stand with a bag attached to it, but I will initially be shooting from the bench so something attached to the receiver for now should be good.

The old guys videos show it shoots them out like a lawn sprinkler, in quite a wide arc, especially as I go up in power.

so since this post i have lost my eyesight for a bit, still have not much vision in left eye, may need a cornea transplant, but kept up with getting stuff for my 351 and now also acquired a second one and working on getting a third, and did also buy a 1910 in 401 Winchester, so working on loading for it too, got the dies, some brass and bullets, and also working on converting 360 Dan Wesson brass for the 351 and also trying 7.62x39 brass to make 401 brass, and trying to modify 414 super mag brass into 401 also, just wish i had a small lathe, but it is fun getting prepped to shoot these old rifles.

As for my old 1903Winchester 22 semi auto i have purchased a grand total to date of the ammo from Prophet River of 900 rounds, shoots great and fun to have it going again.
