Any Camping Guide for Beginners

I'm looking for any beginners Camping or hammock camping guide if anyone can share with me.

I have picked up this booklet at smaller registries in the past few years. Very good info for camping.

Most folk learn as they go. Some things you always need and others are just nice to have. Can't help you with a guide as I learnt by doing.

It's one hundred years old...but is considered a timeless classic that still has great info. Read it, absorb it...and then others here have said, just get out and do it.

My must haves for any campsite are a tarp, rope, bungee cords so the wind doesn't rip the gromets on the tarp, good sharp axe and bow saw.

If it rains, you'll be glad you flew a tarp. If it's sunny and hot, you'll be glad you flew a tarp.

Coffee pot...and coffee.

Thermorest

Giant can of Off.

Propane stove, lighter/matches.

Brings me back to when my wife and I went on our first camping trip when we were just starting out.
A tent, and a cooler for drinks, and a kerosene lantern. And we stopped at value village on our way out and bought a pot to boil water in for instant coffee.
That was more than enough equipment to camp in a provincial park.

Squealing also not recommended.

baby wipes is better then toilet paper:) . multi-tool and Swiss army knife are handy to have around .

or if you stick to one of these camp site with a shower... be sure to bring $1 coins:)

Lots of good info.

For getting started there are "Otentix" and "Comfort Camping" in Provincial and Federal Camp grounds. Basically its a tent that has been set up in advance with all the supplies. You can get a taste of camping and go on from there.

There is a wide spectrum from backpack tenting to mega RVs. Idea is to have fun and enjoy beautiful nature. For starting choose someplace closer to other attractions e.g Banff, Jasper etc. In case you are getting bored there are other things to do as well.

For hammock specific info I would hit youtube. I assume you mean the ultralight backpacking ones? They are niche, so I would imagine most references in books will be dated or very brief.

Set up tent, get wood, build fire, cook meat, go on adventure, return with good story, build bigger fire, drink beer, smoke doobie, look at stars, go to sleep, wake up early, go for a swim, build fire, drink beer, plan day 2......repeat, repeat, repeat

Oh, and don't complain about minor problems....burnt food? who cares, you're camping... warm beer? who cares your camping.....kids don't want to go to bed? who cares you're camping.

Be respectful to nature and other campers and hopefully that feeling will be returned to you. Have fun

Yeah one of the most important thing

Choose bigger camp site close to your place. Reserve your time (you can start from 1-2 nights). Take a tent, sleeping bag and pad, axe, lighter, cooler with food and beverage, water jug, flashlight and you will be fine. You may also want portable butane stove, pot, sort of disposable dishes, knife and fire starter. They usually sold fire wood at the site entrance.
Just start doing that and you can easily figure out what else you want to bring with you.

Go camping with someone who already does. Youll pick it up quick

Aaaaaaand here is the campin guide. Good stuff!!! One more thing is bear spray, buy two cans, use the first on your buddy to make sure you are familiar with it.

Save second can for bear.... or for buddy if he's wielding an axe for the first can deal. Good to go. :)

New campers should always know to pitch their tents in places the bears won't bother them. :)
