Are there traditionally "Good deals" at the arms show in Calgary? I'm assuming there are firearms you can buy at these things?

Usually you can buy guns at a gunshow.
A "good deal" is in the eye of he beholder.

Depends what you are looking for. There is usually tons of guns there, but many of them are collectors guns and not very practical guns. However you can sometimes find good deals on other firearms for regular use.

If you want the good deals, find someone that you know who will be running a booth, and convince them to let you volunteer to help them set up. The good deals are had the night before the show...

like every other gun show - some good deals some not - but a lot bigger with stuff that you don't see at the smaller shows - good place to pick up odd ball ammo and gun parts

We went to Lethbridge gun show. We ended up at wholesale Calgary and bought reloading supplies and powder there and it was cheaper at wholesale lol. Some vendors wanted $50 pound for powder. Got some at wholesale for $38. One guy was selling used Rcbs two piece die sets for $40. I bought brand new set for $46. So???

I've had a table for the past few years trying to disperse my father's vast collection. We've done pretty well, so I'm assuming our prices have been fair. What the show have taught me is that I need to cut down on my own collection since one cannot have a little of everything. Decided to just focus on my Marlins and Sakos. It's hard to say no to a "purdy gun".

There are lots of collectable arms at the show, but I believe the majority are useful, everyday guns. Mind you, some people like myself, use guns that have a collectable aspect to them for hunting and target shooting.

Know your prices before you go in. If it's something hard to find, you may pay more than you were hoping. On the other hand, I saw one guy asking substantially more than new prices on a beat to crap rimfire scope. This seemed to be the norm for the couple of shows that I went to. But my buddy did get a great deal on a little 410 shotgun. Just had to meet with the guy after the show.

Exactly. All the good deals are already gone the night before the show starts, what is left is mediocre at best and sometimes even more than new prices. It is the same with most of those kind of shows.
