Win 94 sling attachments
 

I picked up a winchester 94 (1955 manu) and it has no sling attachment points. How do I get sling attachments on without ruining the stock? I will be getting one of those attachments that clamp on the mag tube for the front, but the one on the stock has me a little... well... its a nice stock! Anyone have a good suggestion for me?

A drill press a vice with padding . Imo

If you want to turn a $600 gun into half it's value drill lots of holes in the wood then to devalue it even more drill the receiver for a side mount.Don't mess with the pre-64 Winnies.

As Pioneer stated, think hard before you start drilling holes. The 94s handle so nicely that I think you'll find a sling unnecessary.

Use the Uncle Mikes band swivel like so:

Then use a sling like the one on my 1899b where you don’t need to drill a hole for a stud in the buttstock. It’s a slip on sling.

There is nothing worse than dragging a deer out of the bush without a sling.

A sling is for when you have downed your game and you need free hands to pack or drag it out. Otherwise my rifle is never on my shoulder as it’s at the ready to fire if i jump something.

Unless your rifle is sitting on the passenger seat yeah you probably don’t need a sling...

I designed a sling/butstock cartridge holder that allows over the shoulder and front low ready carry. You can shoot with it slung and the leather sling adjusts quickly and holds firmly. The sling attaches to the butstock holder so no need for a swivel. All my lever guns are outfitted with one. Any one who works with leather could easily Make one.

The problem with this set up is the sling attaches to far forward on the butstock.my design has the sling attaching at the rear of the butstock do it can be used for front carry ( similar to a vickers style) and allows you to shoot while slung. It also.allows typical over the shoulder carry or across the back if you prefer. My sling allows hands free carry where the butstock is held high on your shooting shoulder with muzzle down low. Simply pull rifle into shooting position and shoot. Very fast. I'll try to post pics in a bit

I have also made a few of these types..they work well but I think with a 94( straight grip) it might keep slipping forward and interfering with the lever. A bit of trouble shooting and.you could rig up a strap that slips over the recoil pad to keep it from sliding.
