Hummingbird helix issue

I've got a helix 7 g2n ice kit and I recently did an update on it. Now the autochart feature doesn't work.
Instead of pushing autochart and having it map as I go, I have to push the button every 20 feet and it only plots one location per button push.
I'm worried that if I factory reset it, I will lose my maps and way points.
Any advise?

PM SamSteele, he will sort you out in no time as he is a Hummingbird pro.

He has helped me out many times over the years, great guy.

He even fixed an issue I had with mine out on the water, a quick phone call, 5 minutes later all issues resolved except I couldn't catch a cold that day...:)

Are you in summer mode or ice mode? If you are in ice mode when you hit auto chart it just does a spot record since you aren't moving and the depth shouldn't change but if you are in summer mode it turns it on and keeps it on (normally).

This.

It sounds like you’re in ice mode. When you are, it only auto charts that spot with each push of the button. Open water mode is different and Autochart can be switched on and left on until it is turned off or powered down.

It does that in ice and summer mode. Was testing it in the fall too

I bought the Helix 7 Gen 2 last summer from Cabellas on sale. I plotted alot with it, but it stopped recording, as I had not taken the memory Card out and had it converted a map.

New memory Card and started plotting again.

Did you check how much memory you have on the SD Card? If it is full, it may be time to create the map using the software on the website.

Just an idea.

The problem with being called an "expert" is you get the oddball questions! Hahaha.

I don't have my units here at the moment so I can't give you a step by step through the menus (the Gen 1 is also a bit different as I started using Bird after Gen 2) but when you go into your menus and find waypoints, you should be able to see a list of all the waypoints. I seem to recall there being a way to have some not visible. Kind of like a toggle that you could turn on and off for each waypoint. Check to see if that is an option in your menus.

There is also a setting that is designed to reduce waypoint clutter. I believe it is simply called "Waypoint Decluttering" and it will turn off the labels on the waypoints so your screen isnt covered with them. Is it possible that this was flipped on for you?
