Partition

Partition for years, although a TSX on occasion works very good too. I've tried others as well and had good success, but when I push a partition into the chamber I have confidence my bullet will do its job if I do mine.

TTSX and impact velocities over 2000fps..

Nyksta 05-10-2018 08:28 PM

Accubond

It depends on the cartridge.

Primarily it needs to be a hunting bullet, then it needs to shoot well in the rifle.

Muzzle velocities south of 2800fps, a cup core design like a Hornady Interlock, or a Sierra Pro Hunter, or Game King are my starting point.

2800-3100 FPS, a Partition, or a bonded core offering like an Accubond, Interbond, or similar.

3100 FPS, I’d look hard at a monolithic designed bullet like a Barnes, or a GMX.

You can always migrate to a lower velocity range with your bullets, but moving upwards often leads to “interesting” results on game

EagleEyes 05-10-2018 08:51 PM

Partition for sure. I also shoot accubond's they seem to work well.

Dubious 05-10-2018 08:53 PM

Scirocco swifts.

Never could get the famous nosler partition to shoot well.

Anyone know where to get them???

Maxwell78 05-10-2018 10:08 PM

accubonds,partitions and woodleighs

Kurt505 05-10-2018 10:10 PM

Partition or Accubond have both performed well for me. I have a few hundred ELD-X in both 6.5 and 7mm I'm going to try out this year too.

southernman 05-10-2018 10:34 PM

I like a good old soft point ( high BC, heavy for cal) for most hunting, ie Serria game king, or Hornardy interlock,

Sierra GK in a heavy for the caliber weight worked really good for me on many elk, 2 moose and I don't even remember how many deers.

For the money I think its hard to beat the Remington Coreloct. In 180 grain in the .30 cal's, 150 in the .270. Good for anything you can hunt in this province and they've typically shot pretty good out of most of my rifles.

Depends what caliber I am shooting. For my 300 Win Mag I like the 215 Berger. 6.5X47 I shoot 130 gr Berger Hunting and 130 AccuBond. The Hornady Interbond is a good bullet as well.

I’ve had good luck with Accubonds and sciroccos. One of the two shoots well in Every gun I’ve tried and kill just fine.

leo 05-11-2018 07:51 AM

My hunting rifles are magnums of one type or another, so I've used Partitions for 25+ years. I switched to TSX and TTSX a few years ago and can't complain. They are accurate and very terminal at all ranges I shoot to.

Norwest Alta 05-11-2018 08:33 AM

Best there is .

I’ve always used Accubonds and TSX. Always had extremely good performance on game and off the bench. I shoot yhe 143gr Eld’x out of my 6.5-284 and it performed very good on 3 deer last fall.

Pretty much this as well. Most of my meat hunting is done at closer ranges with lever action guns. Always had good success with heavy RN or FP bullets.

I tried Nosler Partitions in my 6.5 but they did not expand properly or just whistled on through. Use the Hornady 160 RN now consistently in it.

Skatchewan 05-11-2018 12:41 PM

Thanks for all the replies. I have had great luck with 100 grain Hornady Interlocks in the .243, 180 Win PP in the 30.06, 165 Interbonds in the 30.06, and 140 grain Hornady's in the 6.5x55. My GF used the swede with 130 Accubonds on her moose last year, worked fantastic.
