Ammo for a 300WinMag Benelli R-1

Hello all,

I got a Bellini R-1 300WinMag for a grad present, and have yet to sight it in. I hunt Moose, Deer, Elk, & Black Bear.

-Now I had a Remington wood-master 30-06, and always shot federal blue box 180gr, I got 2'' groups at 200 yards, now I think that's fairly good for a cheap semi-auto rifle, with inexpensive shells. I also started hand-loading with nosler partitions. -With the $20 Federal Blue Box I have shot 6 moose, 2 black bear, 1 elk, and numerous deer and never had one run more than 50 yards.

-With my upgrade to the Bellini 300WinMag, I was wondering what consumer loads you guys recommend. ie. Federal Vital-Shock in the red box, Remington, Winchester? Or hand load the partitions? Or other bullets that will work for deer to Black Bear.

-I have heard the R-1 is picky on the ammo it uses.

-Does anybody else shoot the federal blue box?

I just want to sight it in with one brand, and stay with that brand, for accuracy purposes.

Thanks a bunch!

Winchester Supreme in either the 180gr Accubonds or the XP3's gets my vote.

I wish we could buy the XP3 bullets to reload. I have friends that have used this ammo along with the AB's successfully.
