The Fur Institute of Canada sets the standards through development .

This has some info but the best would be to take the course to find out the most.

Snares

I read the fur website regarding snares, these are best practices not law. Is there such a thing as certified snares ?

Thanks

Deer stop as in a break away? Not required but I use them on all my homemade snares.

Deer stop is different than a breakaway it’s a nut crimped on so your snare can only close to a certain loop size, the only requirement for snares are that they have a locking device on them

The only thing in regs is a lock that will not release.

I do believe the answer is in the trapping regulations, for Alberta. Each province is its own individual jurisdiction.
