not a whole lot, although this coon would go select for sure and bring a higher price because of size, thats what their buying apparently,if they buy any that is

Nice catch. That raccoon would make a nice canoe mount. And it's big enough for christmas supper.

There's a few caught in southern Alberta every year for the past several decades. Where there is one raccoon there is probably a couple more.

calgarychef 12-13-2018 09:00 PM

Fish creek park is loaded with coon tracks.

Funny you posted, I’ve killed two this week in my coyote snares, one was all of 30 lbs I bet. Fattest critters I’ve skinned

FYI
Back in the 70s I had a pet Coon. Ont.

Topped out at 55 lbs

Few years ago a farmer / trapper (dead now) caught one near my place (Westlock) in a Beaver set on a dam crossing. Didn't see it.
He said it was the first one he had ever seen.

Kid I went to school with had a pet one in darwell

There was an indigenous population of 'coons along the Simonette river SW of Valleyview in the '60's. A Native trapper brought one in with his lot of furs to have tagged.
As I recall it was fairly large, but not as big as this one.

My friend has them in his back yard in St Albert.
