Browning BBR Stock -New or Used

Looking for a stock for a BBR long action. Used one in very good or better OR likely a new aftermarket. Who has restocked one of these? Any suggestions?
Thanks

I would say Boyds on the less cost side and Mcmillan on the high cost side. I don't know of any others.

Richards makes stocks for the bbr

There are two types of BBR stock: those which have broken and those which have not broken yet. I don't know how they did it but Browning made a stock which was born to break.
I re-stocked one with a Richards laminate and it worked out pretty good. Leeper

Hard to figure. They built a bolt on the bbr big enough to use for a tractor hitch yet made a stock that sooner or later will crack.

I sure like my br in 270 Winchester, heavy but accurate.

I have one in 7mm. No issues. One of the better rifles I own.

Here is one of my BBR’s in 7RM. It fit like a glove. Had to do some inletting around the lug when I bedded it. The barrel and every where else was great. I’d give them a try.

Yep, love my 1981 270, now i bought a bit earlier one 1980 in 30/06.
Never a stock issue, and that is even with my latest one shipped all the way to me from Ontario, so it must be tough to survive shipping, had heard the horror stories of the stocks being broken on arrival.
They are a heavy gun, but accurate as heck.
The 30/06 came with a 6X Bushnell on it, but i will change it to a variable scope.

Mine is a 338 ,and it cracked some 30 years ago .
Found my stock on gun runner .

There were 2 stock styles for the BBR the original was the problem stock that cracked. It had a squarish forend the replacement for it was not a problem and had a round forend

I thought the square style was on the older German BBR
Mine is round on my BBR 338 assembled in Japan cracked on the wood grain in the palm .

Some of the square style might have been on the hunter grade units

Owned a 30-06 bbr for many years. The stock appeared to be a mark 5 clone with a squared off forend. No cracks. Very nice rifles imo.

All the BBRs were made in Japan , the first series had the square stock they often cracked and were the problem child. They changed an internal cut in the second style which pretty much eliminated the problem .

Sound correct ,where they just called the FN Browning that were made in Germany.

fps plus 02-28-2022 06:15 PM

The forerunner to the BBR was the Safari series . FN made in Belgium for the long and magnum action . The medium and short actions were Sako actions .

As a teenager I got to handle a few Olympian grade Browning Safaris. Oh to dream of those now !! I am lucky enough to own a Original Browning Medallion using the Sako action in 243 .

The original Brownings where:
Olympian
Medallion
Safari
