Beaver

All this snow is good news for Beaver ,they will have lots of water to travel up and down the main waterways and find homes in run off streams .
Too bad there is no market for them .

There is a market sell the hides to the auction and the carcasses to bear baiters carcasses pay better

Castor and carcasses alone make them worth trapping, plus there are a hoot to trap. $85/LB....big castor check for springs. With that price I'll be around $25-30/beaver before I touch the hide.

An here in eastern sask we also get a 30 dollar bounty for the tail

Between the tail leathers, skull, bottom jaws, carcass, hide and caster, you can get 60+$ per beaver in parting it out if you want too spend the time finding buyers for everything

The real money is tanning them and making garments if you have the skills or knowledge to do so

Exactly my Thought and after Western loosing some of my Fur and taking excess of over a year to finish I think I am done with Tanning from the Edmonton Area. Prices here are stupid crazy as well. I am looking for other options and have a few contacts to send and try out. I hear Rod in Southern Alberta is real good and fair for price....
