why would you want to do this? are you talking a positive air shutoff?

Anti-theft something that I could shut the power down or whatever must be a way to protect these trucks seems like they're always getting stolen I use a steering wheel lock bar

had a switch put in my raptor that when activated the truck wouldn't start even with the key, best part the ford command start still worked.
had to get in to the truck put the key in and flip the switch before if would move

You sure your eco does not have a chipped key? It is the f350 that did not have factory security systems. Most 1/2 tons have had chipped keys since 2000 as standard equipment

The only way to make sure a vehicle is not stolen these days is to remove all 4 tires, and remove the engine. LOL.

On my 2013 F150 if I set the factory key alarm, as soon as the door is opened the alarm goes off about 10 seconds later. Can set the alarm and leave the windows down. Need the key in the ignition to turn it off. Same with the dealer installed command start. You can say I have 2 alarms that both work at the same time.
I believe they both disable the ignition when the alarms are activated until the key is put in. In other words, you need the chip key to start and turn the alarm off.

If you have a factory key with a lock button on it, try it out. Windows down and lock the doors with the key. Press the door unlock from inside and see if your alarm goes off.

my dad used to put a switch on the power to the fuel pump of all our trucks. I like Campingnut's solution better though. The ability to still use autostart would be great.

I have 2018 ecoboost and I can not leave my dogs inside and lock the door. Alarm goes of when dogs move inside.

Mind me asking how much ish that ran you? Had me 2012 Ecoboost stolen about two months ago. Have a 2016 now, and have been searching for a good anti theft solution that isn't a club.

This sounds like the best/most practical one I have heard of so far....

The club isn't much of a deterrent to a seasoned thief anyway. 10 seconds to cut the steering wheel with a hacksaw and the club is off. The devices that clamp onto the brake pedal are significantly more effective for those who choose to go that way.

3.5---2015 was first year for 2.7---stay away.

The Ford PATS system is pretty good, so the best first step would be to set up some protective perimeter to prevent ways to defeat that. Like physically locking the OBDII port and ECU with steel covers or lock-boxes.

Then I'd put in something unusual which would prevent the engine from running, such as a means to remotely disconnect the crank position sensor, and starter motor, and fuel pump.

Throw in a few decoy switches and dummy wires too, routed where it's difficult to trace, just to give the crook an extra bad day.

I just bought a 3.5 ecoboost last week. So far the truck has amazed me. With 700 miles in a week and one tank of gas I averaged 20.5mpg running mainly interstate at 75-80mph. I went in and the dealer recommended for any towing to stay away from the 2.7 and go with the 3.5. The 2.7 is more of a daily city driver type. I guess being a newer design they have also had some bugs they haven’t worked out. The 3.5 is what 7 years going on 8 now with how much R&D done ok it before it went into production and with the recent update and placement into the raptor. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the 3.5 ecoboost.

I would, after seeing one implode towing a 6k holiday trailer with 130k on the clock, pulling a small hill on the outskirts of Strathmore.

Stressed out V6 on steroids. Maybe fine for daily driving. Work it - well, you've been warned.

Wire a simple switch into the ignition circuit, somewhere out of sight. Turn it off to break the circuit when you leave it overnight with the keys on the dash.

Found this remote battery disconnect while restoring an old car. I've already spent enough and didn't order it so can't comment on the quality or anything but it seems like a neat idea. You could wire it just to the starter or fuel pump like other guys here mentioned and it's just a button on your key chain to power things back on.

Campingnut, I'd like to ask for your help regarding the kill switch. I called Athabasca (Koch) Ford, I have a 2010 raptor and was enquiring about the kill switch. They (including a tech called Dave) don't recall installing a kill switch like that. They requested if possible that you call them to help them out what kind of work has been done so they could give me a quote as well.

I have a 2021 F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost a friend has a 2017 with the 2.7. With over 8000km on my truck, the average fuel consumption is 11.4l/100km. His truck has around 130,000 on it, and average fuel consumption is around 11.2l/100km. Another friend has a 2019 with the 3.5, and his mileage is averaging just over 12l/100km. A fourth friend has a 2019 with the 2.7, and gets around 10.9l/100km. The 2021 3.5 has a new tune, which adds 25hp, around 30ft lbs, but it also gets noticeably better fuel economy than the 2020. The newer 2.7 with a 10 speed also does better on fuel than the older 6 speed models. For the best fuel economy, the new 2.7 with 10 speed will do the best, and it actually has decent power, the peak power is at much lower rpm than the V8, so it actually feels stronger than it is. If you want even more power, the 2021 3.5 has 400hp, and 500ft lbs, and it also makes maximum power at much lower rpm than the V8s, so it pulls very hard.
As for adding a kill switch, there is already so much electronic circuitry, I wouldn't add any, just more to go wrong.

New information from the RCMP.

Thieves are now taking a picture of your VIN through the windshield, then they call a buddy at a dealership and get a key cut. From there they have full access to the interior without breaking anything. They then use an OBD2 programmer and are gone in under 30 seconds.

If they key is not chipped they open the door with the key and are gone.

Put a piece of paper over your VIN and this problem goes away.

You can't put a piece of paper or tape over some new VIN tags, some are sealed behind the windshield, with a window to see them through.

just tap over it slightly with a sharp chisel lol

that sucks. Well when the windshield gets changed I guess it can be done.
