Recovered bullets.

This is a .375, 250 grain TTSX that went lengthwise through a bull moose at 100 yards. Bullet went in at the base of the neck and was found under the skin on the back side of the left ham. It weigh 248.6 grains and measures 0.784" at the widest part. |

Beauty bullet you got there that's what I have my wife shooting out of her 270 they work great . This Berger is the first one I've got back that didn't blow right through probably due to the neck shot . I think they are the best of both worlds the base holds together and mushrooms nicely and the tip does a crazy amount of damage inside haha sounds like a half full water balloon when you roll a deer over it slushes. But everyone has their opinion and they all have valid points. Ttsx is my go to with any other gun of mine. To me if my freezer is full it did its job and I've not lost a animal yet with them touch wood |
Out of all my game only recovered 2, one 154 interlock out of a whitetail 150 yard shot and 160 tsx out of my elk at 220 yards both out of my 7mm rem

The 150 gr. Barnes Triple X worked exactly as it was designed for. Almost 97% weight retention and full expansion.

I've got half a dozen Barnes bullets kicking around here, there's nonsense posting a photo of them though....we all know exactly what they look like ;) they work well indeed

I had a 300 and a 338 that liked the X bullet and the VLC version of it. All of these were dug out of critters (mostly moose) so nothing could be called a failure. The top rows are Barnes, the middle the Talon and the bottom the GMX. The GMX are in 338 and 375 and were dug out of 2 eland, 2 waterbuk, and a kudu.https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...a8&oe=5AA1EA43

These are 300 grain federal box ammo (either swift a-frame or bear claw, don't remember) shot from a 375 H&H into a water buffalo at 40 yards. The right bullet broke the shoulder and was found against the far side shoulder blade and weighs 212 grains. The left bullet was a frontal shot to put it down for good at 20 yards, shot through the base of the neck and was found in the paunch. It weighs 261 grains

That is a 140g TSX , quartering away moose, was hit in the shoulder blade, the bullet bent n went to the neck. Follow up shot was required.

I like the recovered bullet pics. For some reason I’ve only recovered one Barnes and a couple of hornady btsp and sst’s over the years.

Recovered bullets.
I've shot a lot of tsx and ttsx and never once looked at a wound channel and didn't think I had gotten expansion. I've also only been able to catch one. It's a 180 grain tsx that went through approx 2.5' of spine before being caught under the hide on his throat. Impact velocity would of been about 2800 fps.

Most are around 105-115 when I recover them. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...00e23fdd45.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eddbd9d578.jpg |

I'd love to recover a bullet.. but I shoot a 6.5 x 55 Swede :ashamed:
140gr Accubond at a MV of 2650 fps went through 4 ft of moose and still exited at 200 this year :confused0024: |

243; Recovered 100 grain Nosler Partitions, in elk (under the hide on the opposite side) only. Generally full pass through on deer....Full expansion indicated by the wound channel.
87% weight retention. 30-06; Recovered several 165 grain Nosler Partitions, in elk (under the hide on the opposite side) only. Full pass through on deer. 88% weight retention. 308; Recovered 165 grain Trophy Bonded, in elk (under the hide on the opposite side) only. Full pass through on deer shot from the side. I shot one deer facing me. I recovered the bullet just inside the hide at the hip. The vitals were destroyed. 97% weight retention. 25-06; 100 grain Barnes TSX, Never recovered a bullet. Shot elk with the side shot and total pass through with a huge wound channel .....Devastating round. 100% pass through on deer. Unknown weight retention? All shots under 300 yards, some as close as 80 yards. Good thread......nice to see.... :) |
Federal Fusion 7mm08 140gr
205 yard shot. Shot a non-trophy sheep and it ran off over some cover. Went to do some tracking and the first thing I found was the bullet, on the ground, with some hair caught in the petals. This was the only evidence of a wound because there was no blood at the same location. Found blood 20 yards away and the ewe 75yards from where the bullet lay on the ground. I though it was real special to recover a bullet that was a pass-thru. Wouldn't have noticed it if it wasn't carrying some hide with it. Nicely blossomed bullet, weight retention unknown but it appears whole.
