Got the big boat out, first time this year....
The temps at Sylvan did not get past zero. Gave up site fishing early on with the cloud cover. Anchored up back to the wind and started casting out. Wasn't too long to find some action. Good fighters for their size:

Got my limit and then C&Rd a bunch.
Time for some fresh whitefish burgers!

I don't want to give your weapon away but where you using chironomids or bloodworm under an indicator?

Not a problem. I had a big, like size 8, silver chironomid on the bottom and a blood worm I added later on above it. Given it was cloudy the blood worm out fished the silver on that day. Normally I just use the big silver on sunny days and sight fish them. Also, even though there was nice chop, stripping 3-5 times in a row and stopping was the ticket.

Went out again yesterday. Very nice day! Big fish! I was fishing away out deeper before trying sight fishing. Started off a bit slow but really picked later morning. I was catching the usual size when about fish #4 I set the hook and it is real solid. Right away I was losing most of my fly line... hmmm . I just thought, nice walleye :)
As it got closer it was darting around so much I really thought I had hooked 2 whites, one on the lower and one on the upper hook. I guess I just couldn't convince myself that Sylvan had bigger whites. Once I realized I had a big one on I fought carefully but had one heck of a time to try and net it. A little too big
I started getting a big more aggressive on keeping the line tight and the hook finally pulled through ...sigh. I'm guessing 4.5 to 5 lbs. I know, kind of average for Pigeon but so rare on Sylvan. At least I got to fight it.

In the afternoon it got windier out so I explored the shallower west end. Scared a huge pike in 2 FOW and it came right out on top of the water. Holy monster! Caught lots of whites sight fishing.

Thanks...
I'm not sure what your intention is on spamming old posts and, in this case, whitefish posts. Good luck to you on this forum...

New to the site and love whitefish angling so thought I'd browse the posts and see what people have been posting , not sure what spamming means.

Fair enough then. Welcome to forum and have fun. Whitefish season is about to really start heating up.

Lol! Yeah, I know. We need to lengthen Aug and Sep to last 6 months to fit it all in. I'm definitely going to try to be busy every weekend until ice up :)

Try stripping in a small 2 inch sculpting in olive or grey I catch them faster at sylvan sight fishing in 10 feet of water then I do with the chronic. Great fish fry there

Funny you say this.....was fishing a hopper/dropper on sunday afternoon and the rockies were trying to inhale the hopper :sHa_sarcasticlol:

Noticed the rockies are starting to stack up in numbers, let the good times roll
