My Cree Lake trip
Just got back from Cree early this morning....and man what a trip. We stayed at Broken Arrow. The fishing itself was just average while we were there....but the trip as a whole was still a 10/10.
We traveled from home to pinehouse the first day. A pretty easy 6-7 hour drive. Day 2 we left pinehouse around 6:30am and arrived at the staging area on the key lake mine road 11....unloaded and on the trail by noon. The trail and lake crossings were all in pretty good shape....and hit the east shore of Cree Lake at the 48km mark. We crossed 5 lakes on the way in, all of which hold fish and from what we were told giant walleye and pike. A person could easily spend an extra 3 or 4 days just fishing those. The 50km trek from the east shore of Cree to the lodge was also pretty good as the lodge owner Brian had been freighting across the lake every day. Total it took us about 3.5 hours making roughly 30 minutes worth of stops. We had 3 days fishing and were given a few spots and general areas to fish but really had no real good info on the lake bottom and spots. We ended up fishing 2 spots consistently but did explore 3 or 4 other areas. The weather was up and down over the entire 3 days of fishing and the eater fish we did keep all had empty stomachs telling us that itd been a while since theyd been feeding. We found very few aggressive fish and had to work for the ones we did get. Our 3 man group did all land 40" fish 2 of which were right around 25lbs. A couple mid 30" 15-18lb fish as well and we probably averaged about 10-12 fish per day. The lodge and cabins themselves are excellent as are all the people involved with keeping that place going. If anyone has ever been on the fence about making this trip I highly recommend you do. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cff6da0421.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4f1adee761.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fc1afa6131.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5a286dc675.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0fdacf64e8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...65fe9ddb9b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6b5ba2b225.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...40ccb30b6c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e694ca5eca.jpg Sent from my SM-G981W using Tapatalk |

That first picture of you holding the trout is awesome, that is not a young fish 50 plus years to 60 years ,some bio's say even 75 years they can live for ,crooked mouth large stretched out belly ,took many years to get that way.
I love catching these older fish where most have never been caught . When you get few that are in the 40 range you know damn well there's way bigger ones lurking around . Nice pics and memories you never forget ,people fly to other counties and I did that deal, but just got bored . Rather spend money in my country and supporting those that are there to offer great service and great fishing . All the best on your next trips out. JD |
Hey do you know if that trail you guys took is open to quad into Cree in the summer? I see a couple river crossings on Google maps but no lake crossings.

Walking beam twin axle trailer would be a must. As would good winches and good tires and probably more than couple spares. Sharp rocks stumps and lots of muskeg. But I'm definitely thinking of doing a summer trip and setting up camp at the staging area or at McIntyre lake. |
Are the trails big enough to get the Swamp Donkey down? I’m hoping to have it done this year. It should float just a bit over the top of the axles and I’m not thinking Muskeg will be any issue.

Oh yeah....that'd do lol. I guess argos are the ticket....just slow. But the trail is big enough for snow cats and 6wd military trucks (that's what he uses to skid in supplies all winter).
