Anyone own a ford Edge ?

Looking to getting the wife a new SUV. How is yours ? Pro's and con's ?

While checking on line it seems to be the all around best SUV for us. One of the most cargo and comfortable inside space. Not worried about trailering or hp too much, just comfort on the odd highway trip as well as cargo space for grocery shopping. Mostly city driving.

My wife has a loaded 2016 SEL Ford Edge and we both love it. It is zippy and comfortable for me to drive being 6'2" 250lbs
We can take our stuff for 4 days, our 16 month son, his stuff, and 2 60 lbs dogs no problem. We have had no issues at all with it, great fuel economy (she has the ecoboost model) and does amazing in the winter with the AWD.

Her vehicle has the huge pano sunroof and we did buy glass insurance through AMI I believe. The insurance is $180/yr and has already paid for itself. Driving down deerfoot and a semi kicked a huge rock up and it landed on the sunroof spydering it. That thing is like $2500 to replace as it is all one piece.

We do not regret buying it one bit, and would buy one again.

Same thing, wife has a 2018 for commuting into town 45km each way. Great in the snow with the awd. can still pass people with the turbo. Think it has the 1.5L engine, gets good economy. No issues at 60xxxkm had it since new.

2 people at work have them.. they really like them. I have a newer Explorer 7 passenger to compliment my 2018 f350.. the explorer is really nice too

I have a 2010 SEL AWD with 184k on it. 30 MPG. Regular maintenance on it over the years. Shocks, struts, brakes, battery, one windshield. Been a great car.

Just bought my wife a 2015 Lincoln MKX. I suspect it will be just as good.

Ford edge

We just bought the daughter a Ford edge 6 months ago, I did so much research on them, we test drove all suv's know to man and the edge came out ontop by a far margin, very quiet and comfy ride, she is just in love with it and has been touring Alberta ever since picking it up, very good on gas. Good luck

Can't speak to reliability, but 4 Fat boys went out for dinner in my Buddy's Ford Edge last month. I was impressed with the comfort and roominess.

My wife has a 2018 titanium, nice suv it has a very nice ride and good on fuel. She drives 12 miles of gravel every day and I noticed the paint chips pretty easy but think that's all vehical now a days. Over all she kind of misses her grande cherokee but is happy with her edge. Jeep needs to sharpen there pencil because ford blew them out of the water on price.

The wife bought an 08 Limited AWD edge in 08. It’s just shy of 300,000km.
Oil changes every 5000km
Trans oil and diffs every 75,000km
First brakes at 147,000km (front pads only)
Both tie rod ends at about 160,000km
Battery (my fault) at 210,000km (spilled my baking soda into the cells d’oh)
Windshield at 225,000km
Second brakes 248,000 km (front/rear pads, front rotors)

That is everything so far. Two or three recalls as well that I forget. One was rear wheel bearings.

My complaint since day one was the road noise is too high. Others mentioned it is quiet so possibly it has been upgraded over the last 12 years. It’s still her daily driver. I was not a fan of it in 2008 (or any CUV for that matter), it has made me a believer. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. We just got back from a 3000km road trip two weeks ago and it never crossed my mind that it’s too long in the tooth to make the trip. I’d drive it to Halifax tomorrow without a second thought if I had to.

Had an 08 SEL before the ex took it. From what I remember it was a great vehicle. Decent mileage and comfortable. No issues other than normal wear and tear. Had around 80000miles on it when she left.

On the other hand my parents have a 13 Lincoln MKX and I love that thing!! Comfortable quiet powerful and no issues either.

Engine choice?

Just got the standard 2.0 L . This is the wife's car , so it's mainly a grocery getter. The odd time it will hit the Highway but I still like my F150 for the highway as I have a tuner on the ecoboost and love the passing gear and speed limiter removed when I need it.

Will see how it performs as it is also a ecoboost and may just surprise me.
