So here's a few pics to get us through the winter. Although, I live in Lethbridge (the land of chinooks) so we even get some flyfishing in on the warmer winter days. Most of these were from this spring/summer? Hope you enjoy!

Pic of a friend taken on the bow in the NW a month or two after the flooding. You can see a bit of scarring on the side of the pike facing the camera. The other side of it was a bit worse off (IIRC).

cmcclung 11-27-2013 03:02 PM

kevin, those pics are from all over southern ab, southern b.c and montana. The elk, the crow, and the flathead are 3 of the rivers

cmcclung 11-27-2013 03:14 PM

k, so I'm trying to add a couple more from my facebook as it says they're too big to upload.

No reason you can't. Made it my goal last year to pull at least one fish out of the bow with the fly rod every month between the smaller stuff closing in 2012 and re-opening in 2013. Here's a pic from one of the chinooking days (unsure which month)

Thanks GS~they're all different. This was in the spring when they're spawning. So, their energy level is a little lower...but...they're in a river vs. the open water, so more to contend with if you pin a big one like this. In the heat of the summer, you can expect about 1/3 to clear the water and/or take a pretty long run. Most of the small/young 2'-range fish will jump.
