Where did you find that? I looked on my wild Alberta and it is only showing deadlines for 2018

Duhwight 05-16-2019 10:42 PM

I got an e mail saying the same thing today. The count down begins

J.B. 05-17-2019 10:19 AM

Is the draw book out?

KyleSS 05-17-2019 10:20 AM

It is not up on Albertaregulations.ca yet

Dick284 05-17-2019 10:54 AM

There’s like a 3-4 week window to put in for draws, it follows the same timeline every year.
Maybe I’m just getting older and such, but what’s the big deal?

Whether you apply on day one or on the last day, the opportunities and chances remain exactly the same.

If you haven’t got an idea of your strategy, by the time the results came out last year, you’ve got things pretty bass ackwards.

My apologies to anyone who’s doing draws for their first time, these comments aren’t directed towards you.

I am always eager to see the draw booklet as there is usually some regulation changes in it. That is the big anticipation for me and it should be for everyone, well those who follow the rules...

There’s reading the changes and acting responsible, and then there’s acting like a 8 year old at Christmas.
Whether you read the changes the very day it’s available or if you read them 3 weeks in, it’s not that big of a deal IMO, as long as you read and understand any changes that are forth coming.
I still don’t see what the big deal is, unless this is your first time at it..........

Do you go hunting opening day or wait until November 20th? :sHa_sarcasticlol:

We aren’t talking season dates, we are talking draws.(please stay on track)

Whether you apply for draws on day one or wait to the last day, does it change your chances of getting drawn?

Don’t get me wrong here, I was like you were many moons ago, you’ll soon realize, your efforts are better spent on other tasks, than fixating on things that really don’t matter all that much, or that aren’t as pressing as you think. The rules may or may not change, some seasons may get longer, some may get shorter, some species may be easy to draw, some may take a while, at the end of the day it’s how you finish that matters, not being first out of the gate.......

Relax grasshopper, this is next year country.

Those that adventure outside the (heated) box, need to start planning. Potential for some general prairie mules this year.

Great to see you excited about the draws, put in your choices and then get out there and scout and check out new areas and have fun. Find some kids that are curious about hunting and the outdoors and take them with you. Go to your local range and shoot your guns or bow and get ready.

LJalberta 05-17-2019 12:28 PM

Lol. So many posts about how you're not excited about the hunting draws and criticizing those who are excited about it in a thread that is literally about being excited about hunting draws. What a way to live.

If getting excited about things is considered being ass backwards, well back me up and spin me around.

I always get pumped. And when I'm not excited like a child at Christmas about hunting stuff, I'll find a new passion.

Glad I'm not alone, Draws, new draw book, new regulations book, opening day, are ALL my Christmas day.

Best of luck to you as well. Aim small, miss small.

JDK71 05-17-2019 12:56 PM

Hunt smarter, not harder, partner:thinking-006:

The seasons will open on or around the same day as last year, supplimentals will be a distant opportunity, moose will be draw, mulies will be the same as last year, and bison will be a no fly zone.(at least that’s my prediction)

When you’ve got 160 hours vacay, and a further 80 hours banked time, and you’ve sent this to your boss:

You won’t panic or run around like a kid at Christmas.

I’ll put in the families draws, like always, maybe the Pit Boss will draw his antlerless moose, I’ll likely put the draws in on some quiet Sunday night.

Youth and agility will be trumped by experience and patience, every time.

Email from the realm folks

Here's a screenshot

I like getting the draw book and getting the draws in with my hunting pal. Kind of a ritual. The first stage of making the ongoing plans a reality :)

Keeps me pumped for the coming months :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8147a84936.jpg

Sounds like Dick is into some sort of hunting competition.

Agreed.

Some people feel better looking down their noses at others when their testosterone starts to wane.

I'm stoked. Guess I'll never be as good of a hunter as you, DICK.

Nice response...:thinking-006: maybe..just maybe some of us don't get too excited at waiting 5 or more years for Antlered Mule Deer draw..or 7 -8 plus years for moose etc. or the ridiculous wait times for Trophy Antelope etc. etc.. It was a lot more interesting before Ab.'s population nearly doubled and everyone didn't apply for every draw in the book "just in case".. just my two cents.. and I'm a lousy hunter :sign0161:

Jjolg123 05-17-2019 06:22 PM

No one has priority points worth more than the next, and you can be excited for the draw period and still not want to wait 5 years to be drawn. There are plenty of animals to hunt on general every year, more than enough to be excited at this time of year.. If you are not, that's cool too but is there a need to come into someones thread and get on them about it or act superior because its not for you?

boonedocks 05-17-2019 06:56 PM

Draw opener

I honestly don’t know why Dick has to be constantly living up to his name. I too look forward to the draw booklet coming out every year, with the possibility of expanded ( or reduced) seasons and important changes, it marks the beginning of the upcoming season and kick starts our planning for this years hunts. I’m one of those dreaded “ priority hoarders” and will drop the hammer on a tag for something “ out of the ordinary” as I try to do every year, to break up another season of freezing my ass off waiting for a big whitetail! I’m counting the days.

He’s a legend in his own eyes.

Dick I would have a hard time picking days off if that’s all I got for holidays.

If you think my vacation and banked time are my only days off, you are OTL.
