This is almost unbelievable.

Good post. What they never say in these is how many rounds he fired before he got the hit. Chances of it being the first one are nil. No matter, it is still a hell of a shot.

Bigwoodsman 02-16-2020 03:52 PM

Wow. I think I’m doing well when I hit the target at 400yds.

Like was said I wonder how many shots were taken to dial it in and how many men were involved.

They killed a bad guy who likely had no idea what was going on.

Excellent job!

Creedmoor?

Yup, Canadian snipers are very highly respected in the SOF community.

This was actually discussed here I believe , quite a while ago ,
I was speaking about it with a retired JTF member as well.
IIRC it may have in fact been a cold bore kill, but I cannot be certain .
I will check and ask him again however .

Good news is he didn't hear it coming. Dialing up 50 feet and over another 30 feet for wind, while the bullet takes 7 seconds to get there is amazing if you think about it.

32-40win 02-16-2020 05:49 PM

Makes a person wonder if they had radio contact with people calling wind downrange. Be an interesting pic of the holdoff on that one.

I know there was video confirmation, so they likely had drone surveillance or something similar.
There was a thread started about this kill in 2017, I remember it now and looked at it just now.
Someone suggested the sniper was"flock shooting"
That would not be a confirmed World record kill if that was the case.

I think he dialed up 560ft

Is this a 2020 article about the 2017 record? Or is there a new record now?

Oooooook then... Good story

huntinstuff 02-16-2020 11:01 PM

Better to flock shoot one at 4,000 yds than to not shoot one at all

Shoulda launched 500 rounds......

270person 02-17-2020 06:56 AM

I wonder what the last thing to go through the ISIS fighters mind was? :)

Send it just like shooting gophers.....adjust accordingly.....repeat.

58thecat 02-17-2020 10:07 AM

Periodically I will take the 1915 enfield out and just adjust the sight until I am on.....a milk jug way out there....kill's an afternoon of guestamation...yup my type of math:)

6.5 shooter 02-17-2020 06:40 PM

The sniper deserves a huge slap on the back but don't forget about the amazing job his spotter did in reading the wind etc.....Remember the spotter is the senior member on the team, and has the most experience......So BRAVO to them both.

Exactly. 9 yards of linked .50 and let her buck. Or just call an airstrike or artillery.

I dont think they carry around video equipment that is capable of recording images 4km when they go on these ops. Its not going to air on wildtv on the next episode of rawhide

There was video confirmation, but not to be rude but what makes you think that civilians would even be considered for being privy to it?:thinking-006:
