Oldman/Livingstone River Conditions
Thinking of heading up to the Oldman and Livingstone area this week, anyone know what condition the rivers are in right now? Thanks for the help

It's always higher now than it would be in say August. That said, the flyfishcalgary forums were claiming it's actually relatively low this year compared to previous years. It's still not going to be as low and slow as one would want but it's very fishable from what I've read.

Good to go.
Very busy with random campers. At times tough to find a spot. But if you do he should have fun. All the usuals are working. |
Just back my son caught a small bull and about 5 small cutts sight fishing nymphs, I got a nice bull and a decent cutt.
Was busy no one seemed to move once they found a pool [emoji53], Had one older couple stop and speak to me as I was sorting a tangle in my kids rod and she proceeded to walk 10 feet down from me and cast into the pool we were on[emoji35] I was swinging nymphs downstream. Happens a lot on the Liv unfortunately. Why I usually only fish it midweek.
There are still spots where you will rarely see people, but they are harder to get to. Most park as close as possible to river and fish only within a small distance of vehicle. Take it as it is, teachable moment on how to handle such a situation, and a talk about etiquette with your son and why “this lady” wasn’t acting appropriately. Hopefully if we teach the younguns the right way, it will get better. Glad you guys caught fish. |
