5744 powder
Ok hate me if you will.... but going through my basement I found 5lds of 5744 powder I purchased years ago I forgot about. It was a hell fricken ya moment!
Without gloating, and trying to be not excited. Does anyone have experience with it? I'm looking for magnum pistol powders and I'm hoping this will work with heavy bullets??? Thanks for sharing your knowledge Cheers |
Stuff is totally worthless, I can dispose of it for you for a small fee.

Accurate 5744 is an extremely fast burning, double-base, extruded powder. This unique powder can be used in a wide range of rifle calibers and magnum handguns. 5744 is characterized by excellent ignition and consistency over a very wide performance range. Low bulky density and superior ignition characteristics make 5744 an excellent choice for reduced loads in many rifle calibers and in large capacity black powder cartridges such as the 45-70 through 45-120 and 50-90 through 50-120. Made in Canada. :) RJ

comparable to IMR SR-4759, good for reduced charges in large cases. I suspect you can (easily?) trade for powder more suitable for your needs. Good Luck, YMMV |

It’s also one of the preferred powders for a savage ml

Is it clean burning? Being double based that's in question. Anyone have reduced loads development to share?
