Edmonton & close area Taxidermist
You may have seen my thread on my sons first moose, a gooder at that. We can't afford to do a full shoulder mount now(not sure we want to yet as a shoulder mount on a moose needs space) so I will do a Euro for now but, we caped up to the neck anyway in the hopes of having a taxidermist finish the caping and send it out for tanning. That way we can put it on a shelf safe and sound incase we need that cape for a mount of some kind.
Now it was my first attempt at caping and trying to move a big bull around with a big rack was tough. I think I may not have done it right around the legs but I will let the taxi guy tell me if i screwed it up(hope not) or if it can be used. Head and cape are nice and frozen after the cold temps so thats good. So who can you recommend I call to see if they have time and will do this for us? Thanks for the help |

Yes, talk to Darren at Solitude Taxidermy. Super nice guy with a passion for hunting and taxidermy! He did my bull this year in a euro and it turned out fantastic! He also did a plaque on another moose I had which turned out great too. He is also going to do a shoulder mount on my whitetail!

Thanks all, time was ticking on the cape as temps were warming. It was dropped off at Solitude. He caped it in under a day and I have the head back so I can do a Euro mount. Once the wet tan is done, I can at least store the cape safely until Jr works long enough to pay to finish it :)
Some sweet mounts at Solitude Taxidermy. The owners are super nice people. |
