chestermere lake

is this lake only open to people that live there our is it open to everyone ???

Battery 10-02-2008 07:02 PM

open to everyone i think, i know everyone can fish on it, i dont know how the boating works though...you might have to pay to put your boat on it

jesse34567 10-02-2008 08:14 PM

yeah battery u do have to pay its 40.00 for day pass and that includes parking

have u ever fished there??

what area of the lake do u think is more productive???

Justanotherbuck2 10-02-2008 09:25 PM

open to everyone

Chestermere is a WID water storaage site, I think the forty bucks they started charging last year is a bit stupid, but they have put in some great launch's and public areas. For my money save your forty bucks and spend it on gas to go to Crawling Valley, Chain, dixson, Ghost Etc Or save the forty bucks and fish from shore, no charge for that!

jesse34567 10-02-2008 09:59 PM

problem with fishing from shore is i don't get to try my honda 5hp i recently got for my 12 ft boat....

is there lots of wind at Travers cause i don't think a 12ft well handle that

5 hp honda

Hey Jesse34567 did you beat me to that 5 hp honda being sold in Strathmore yesterday...lol:lol:

Jesse, in all honesty i dont fish the lake i fish the canals leading into the lake. TONS of action right by the little dam thing under the train bridge, never leave there without 10 - 15 pike being caught in a 2 hour night. and all are relatively nice size, not monster but not little

jesse34567 10-02-2008 10:49 PM

yeah i picked that up last weekend :lol:

jesse34567 10-02-2008 10:50 PM

hey battery how deep would u say the canals are? also would u be able to get into those canals with a boat..

Battery 10-03-2008 12:59 AM

id say theyre probablyy 5-6 feet deep in the deepest parts, and you can get in there with boats with no motors i see kayak's in there all the time but im yet to see a boat with a motor in there.

Chestermere

Two years ago I went out to Chestermere after ice off and could not believe they wanted $40 to launch. So I went around to the highway side of the lake and dragged my 12 foot alum boat accross the grass at the park. If you really want to try your motor you should head up to Barrier Lake in K Country nice FREE boat launch and very nice trout to be caught.

Bob

jesse34567 10-03-2008 09:12 AM

gillfisher are motors allowed on barrier lake

how far would u say the lake is from Calgary?

Battery 10-03-2008 09:41 AM

was out there yesterday jesse its about 30-45 mins from city limits, just turn onto highway 40 (kananaskis trail i beleive) off of trans canada and follow it, you cant miss it, very nice lake, and if you dont have any luck there you can go down the road a bit and try for some grayling in wedge pond

jesse34567 10-03-2008 09:49 AM

thanks battery are there any rainbows our is it just brown trout

what lures would suggest?
