Backpacks in action

Good idea borrowed from another board. Lots of questions all the time here about what pack to buy/use, what better way than to show them all in action.

Mystery Ranch Cerberus on a NICE frame. Hope to at some point swap out the Cerberus bag for the 6500 on the same NICE frame.

LOL....yep someone already mentioned that. The picture was done after I removed the red strapping that I had on the antlers. Was merely to take the pic of the moose antlers in the pack, and then they were put back on for the hike back to the truck.

But yea...I'm brave in general!! :sHa_shakeshout:

Arcteryx Internal frame all purpose 90 Litre pack with World's smallest Mountain Caribou..

Andy with a Cabella's Alaskan Packframe , without the bag for transport purposes , with definitely not the worlds smallest Caribou..

I wish my arcteryx would fall apart or tear or something so i would have a great excuse to get a new skookum pack Like a Eberlestock or M.R.
Its all i have ever owned and still very comfortable.

Skinnydipper 01-10-2011 09:46 AM

I have now had the opportunity to try the Eberlestock J107 and the Mystery Ranch Nice 6500 and my conclusion is the I like both. I wish I could combine the best parts of both. I much prefer the harness of the MR but found the overall usability of the Eberlestock bag more convenient.

And finally.......

No idea what the pack was. Ask Islander. Also, ask him why I still answer his calls after playing 'sherpa' that day!

Was a pretty cool day actually. We shot that moose maybe 700yrds from where we killed the ram. We were stalking the rams and saw the moose across the valley. My hunter had shot a stone ram before but never a moose. He said he would rather try for the moose. So I started calling and called it into 60yrds. The shot was away from the rams and down into a tight valley. I figured the rams may have not spooked as the shot wouldnt have been very loud to them. We decided to continue after the rams and 2 hours later we completed the stalk and harvested this 165" stone ram.
