Reloder 16 and the 6.5CM
 

Anyone have experience with going from H-4350 to Reloder 16 in the 6.5 Creedmoor? From what I gather they are similar powders. The burn rate is in the same vicinity with the RL-16 being a bit faster. Did your loads end up being in a similar ball park for charge weight and velocity? Was accuracy comparable to what most guys seem to see with H-4350?

I had great luck with 4350 and the 143 ELD-X at around 2750fps shooting under .5MOA. Looking at the load data from alliant, the RL-16 looks a bit quicker.

I’ve had great luck with RL 16 in the 6.5 Creedmoor. I’d have to check my notes to see how it compared to H4350.

RL 16 has been very consistent and out to 1000 yards has had negligible POI shift from 25 degrees to minus 25 degrees. I’m a fan.

I have not used 4350 in my creedmoor’s, just RL16, and I really like it. I get 2760 from my 22” barrel and 2680 from my 20” barrel (both browning x bolts), I got 2700 from my 19” savage. I feel like the 20” is going to speed up a bit after some more firing. Both of my brownings like 41.3 grains in Hornady cases with federal 210m primers, I also shoot 143 eld-x bullets. Absolutely no signs of pressure. I didn’t even work up to pressure, just found the accuracy I like and stuck with it.

As noted by others, I also found very little change in velocity over a large temperature range.

Just don’t buy all of it.... leave some for the rest of us, haha!

Thanks for the feed back on temperature stability. I managed to wrangle enough RL-16 to probably last close to the end of the barrels life.

Alliant data has 43.9gr under the 142gr SMK in a Hornady case, which sounds wayyy too hot for me. My Peterson brass has a bit less case capacity than the Hornady, so I think I've got a good comparison now of where to start.
