RV Camper = works on AC...not on DC?
 

Rv works on AC but not on DC.

Batteries are fine

fuses are all good

It'a a 5 year old Gulfstram Amerilite


what am i missing here?

I had that problem on my trailer before, it was the battery even though it seemed to check ok with a voltmeter.

I suspect battery as well, get someone to load test it,

Test for DC power at the fuse box could be a fuse between the battery and fuse box mine does have one.

As Bat119 said, look for main fuse between battery and fuse panel. This can also be a little circuit breaker that can trip of be faulty. I had a buddy that had this issue and his was hidden under a little panel within the underbelly of the trailer which was hard to find. We got rid of the circuit breaker and put in a large fuse holder with a fuse instead, less problematic.

Check battery cables at battery. Tug on cable a bit. They corrode easily and can look like they're in place properly when they arent.

Check fuses and insure main breaker switch is in on position. It happens

Check small circuit breaker. Usually near battery on frame. They can become corroded.

There's a main fuse usually around the tongue area of the trailer that should be all black, I bet it's that. I learnt about that after an cheap trip to the dealership

Check the connections on the battery are correct and tight. Sometimes its the most obvious things...

Inverter!!
Your 12volt goes to it first from your batteries
They normally have a fuse on them
As well as a fuse in fuse box
Check connections at battery and load test batteries
Check 12volt connection at inverter and at fuse box

Check your breakaway brake controller. Had issues last year replaced my power converter, didn’t help. Crawled under my camper to doublecheck my grounds and noticed the pin was pulled out of the breakaway controller, plugged it back in and fine.

The problem is the battery or fuse/connection going to the conveter/fusebox unplug the trailer to test so not to get confused with power from the converter.

It'll probably be an inline fuse. I had mine blow in Jasper a couple years ago. Limped it back to Western RV and they had it fixed in 1/2 hour. I had no idea there were additional fuses other than in the panel. Cost me over $2000 for a replacement battery and three nights stay at the Lodge all for a $2 fuse!! :angry3:

Mine blew putting the battery in after winter the white wire is positive on mine I reversed the connection blowing the fuse I didn't know existed.

Everything worked at home because it was plugged in, didn't notice until we went boondocking on the weekend... no DC power???

I found the inline fuse conveniently tucked in under the siding behind the hitch, the manual does not mention this fuse.

This is likely your problem.

Same response as everyone else, the inline fuse between the battery and the main panel. Mine was at the front of the trailer under the first beam completely exposed. I had to rewire the system and put it in a proper box to avoid the issue from happening again.

I have learned to keep a full selection of tools and diagnostic equipment in the trailer. Funny thing is... I buy them new and sell before the trailer is 5yrs old.

Holy moly, white is neg in RVs. Buddy had a tent trailer that wouldn't run the furnace on 12v after he had played with the wiring just a bit, this was his problem. I hooked it up properly and he begged me not to mention it to his wife as she had recently come back from a trip with it and froze her doo-dads off.

In most yes, I marked the wire the wire to avid confusion. mine is backwards I really should change it from the connection box for the next guy, must have made on Friday afternoon I found all kinds of poor workmanship in this trailer.

Yes there is. Black (Or red) is positive, white is negative.

What was the issue?

guessing the master disconnect switch..
mine got inadvertently flipped off yesterday. Last thing I checked after going thru everything else.

Burned out 30amp fuse at the tongue and 2 x dead batteries.

Batteries were 2 years old.

All I can say is 6 VOLT.....6 VOLT...
