Streetheart lead singer Kenny Shields dead at age 69
I remember rocking to Streetheart back in the day, I worked with Spiders brother back then.
RIP Kenny Kenny Shields, the lead singer of Streetheart, has died. The band’s guitarist Jeff Neill posted the news on his Facebook page on Friday morning. Earlier this month Streetheart had to cancel their final tour due to Shields’ health concerns. Shields passed away Friday morning in hospital in Winnipeg. Shields, who hailed from Nokomis, Sask., was 69 years old. http://saskatoon.ctvnews.ca/streethe...e-69-1.3513305 |
Sad to hear this. I met Kenny back in 84. Couldn't meet a nicer, humbler guy.

Ah that's too bad. I had a lot of fun with him when I was working at a bar one time. He was complaining about it being so damned cold, so I said 'get to work!' He stopped and asked 'who said that??', I stood up and he said ' oh ok, holy chit, what can I play for you, Sir?':sHa_shakeshout: I think I still have the shirt he signed. :(
Funny guy, will miss him. |
Always enjoyed imbibing in a few wobbly pops at the bar when he was playing.
RIP Kenny! |
Too bad, great Canadian singer and band. His shows sounded just like the albums. Thanks for the tunes Kenny.

Sad
Street heart is still one of my favourite bands.
Saw Kenny and them at the King's Knight about 15 years back. Will be sad to today. |
Awww... Bummer.
Saw him in concert many a time, tossed back the odd wobbly=pop with him and the crew. Always enjoyed their music... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEn7TfjxZRw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-9h8wtZ0Rg Sad day indeed... RIP Kenny... Nog |
Streetheart 1981
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kYpZxxfh14 Can remember many a guy trying to mimic his singing abilities with complete failure. Great band. |
I met him when I was just a kid. They opened for AC/DC during the
Hell's Bell's tour in 1980. Lots of musicians dying lately. |
Man,thats some sad news:(
I knew he was really sick and had emergency surgery earlier this month. Was stoked to hear they where scheduled to play in West Vancouver at an outdoor festival of 70's bands. Rest In Peace Kenny and thank you for the memories of the time and an era gone by.... Rob |
Guess I got to hear his last live performance then. They were just here in Sherwood Park at Festival Place for the Canada Day festivities. Closed out with "Under My Thumb". Then they played O Canada and then the fireworks let loose. Awesome night..

And I am sure there are just as many musicians being born lately , Just no one is excited about their vocals quite yet,,,, |
Now I'm reminded why I rarely post anymore...
